Maamwizing 2026

Gdinwenmaaganaanig (All Our Relations) –
Honouring the Connections That Sustain Us
November 18-20, 2026
Laurentian University, Sudbury, ON

The Maamwizing Indigenous Research Institute at Laurentian University, located on the traditional territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and on the territory of the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850, are pleased to announce a two-day multidisciplinary conference.

Maamwizing refers to “people collaborating together.” Building from the success of Maamwizing 2016, 2018, 2022, & 2024, this year’s conference will focus on All Our Relations, celebrating the connections that ground our knowledge, communities, and ways of being.

Rooted in the teachings of All Our Relations, this year's gathering recognizes the sacred connections that tie us to the land, the water, the skies, and to one another. Kinship reminds us that these bonds are living relationships that guide how we care for, learn from, and stand in reciprocity with all our relations. These relationships remind us of our responsibilities to care for all beings – human and more-than-human – through respect, balance, and reciprocity. All Our Relations speaks to the web of life that sustains us, calling us to reflect on how our languages, stories, governance, and ways of being guide us to mino-bimaadiziwin (the good life). The 2026 Maamwizing All Our Relations Conference invites us to honour these interconnections and to share knowledge that nurtures wellbeing across generations.

Maamwizing 2026 conference is dedicated to hosting a respectful knowledge exchange through ceremony, keynote speakers, workshops, social events, panel discussions, creative/art-based sessions, individual papers, and poster exhibits.

Interested in presenting your research at this conference? See our Proposals page for more information available in Anishinaabemowin, English, and French.

Please stay tuned for more updates. Chi-Miigwech.

Maamwizing’s Gdinwenmaaganaanig 2026 Conference is organized in collaboration with our partners and community allies, including Kenjgewin Teg, whose ongoing support strengthens our shared commitment to Indigenous research, knowledge exchange, and relationship-building.
