About the event
Dr. Tricia McGuire-Adams is an Anishinaabe scholar, educator, and Tier II Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Health Resurgence in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of Toronto. An internationally recognized leader in Indigenous health and well-being, she has secured more than $3.6 million (as P.I.) in competitive research funding to advance community-engaged scholarship that supports Indigenous resurgence and well-being. Holding a PhD in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa and an MA in Indigenous Governance from the University of Victoria, Dr. McGuire-Adams' work is situated at the intersection of Indigenous Studies, socio-cultural studies of sport, and health research. Her scholarship advances a Resurgence Framework for understanding and strengthening Indigenous health and well-being through Indigenous knowledges, relationships, and self-determined approaches to well-being.
